Revov Tray Box EDC gear organizer review

CROWDFUNDING REVIEW – When you love your EDC gear, you want to keep it organized and proudly display it. One way to do both is to consider a valet tray and today I’m going to show you a very nice one that should be on your radar. It’s the Revov Tray Box from Mordeco. They are currently seeking funding on Kickstarter and sent me one to try out. Let’s take a closer look.

What is it?

The Revov Tray Box is a 6.9 x 4.3 x 2.8 inch two-level tray that is made of beech wood (top) and aluminum (bottom) and is designed with magnets so that the top tray spins around effortlessly to provide access to the bottom compartment.

Why do I like it?

I was sent an early production sample and let me say that this tray is just fun to look at. I love the combination of the wood top tray with the matte-finished aluminum base. I was sent the black version of the Revov, but it will also be available in white which will have a natural finished wooden tray on top and a white aluminum base.

Take a quick look at the video below and you’ll see my favorite feature about this tray. It’s the magnets of course. There are two magnets embedded in the top edge of the base and the top tray has two steel pegs embedded in it along with a slot for the brass post in the base. The top tray sets on the post and with a flick of your finger, the tray will swivel around and settle on the back. It’s like a huge fidget toy and it’s oh so satisfying (and fun) to open and close it.

The top tray is CNC routed with sections for your various EDC items and the bottom compartment has a thin but stiff leather insert that you can customize with 2 included dividers that have a tab and slot construction. I love leather, but I think if it were up to me, I’d offer some wood dividers because the leather insert doesn’t have the same cool look like the rest of the tray. That might just be me though.

Something to keep in mind before pre-ordering

The main thing to consider before pledging to pre-order a Revov tray is that you can’t set it against a wall, in order to easily open and close the lid, the tray needs approximately 5 inches of clearance behind it, 2 inches of clearance on either side and 1.5 inches in the front.

Where can I find more info?

The Revov campaign ends on 6/12/20 and they have already surpassed their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a Revov Tray Box starting at $52. After the Revov campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in July 2020. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
